Pokémon fans who enjoy playing the trading card game online will have to say goodbye to the Pokémon TCG Online app soon.
The Pokémon Company has announced that the app will be removed from the App Store, Google Play, and Pokemon.com, and the game’s servers will be shut down on Monday, June 5, 2023, at 9 a.m. PDT.
This comes before the full global launch of Pokémon TCG Live, a new online game that will replace Pokémon TCG Online. Pokémon TCG Live is currently available in beta to players around the world on iOS and Android devices, as well as PCs and Macs. The game will officially launch on Thursday, June 8, 2023.
Pokémon TCG Live promises to offer a more immersive and interactive experience for players, with new features such as avatar customization, daily quests, leaderboards, and social chat. The game will also support cross-platform play and account migration from Pokémon TCG Online.
To devote resources to the development of Pokémon TCG Live, card set development for Pokémon TCG Online ended on March 1, 2023. No further card set updates or expansions were supported in the game since then.
Players who have unopened Pokémon TCG Online content are advised to open it before the game’s sunsetting. Likewise, players who want to save their deck lists should export them before the closure date. Players will be able to migrate their Pokémon TCG Online account information to Pokémon TCG Live even after sunsetting occurs.
The Pokémon Company thanked the players for their support of Pokémon TCG Online and invited them to join Pokémon TCG Live.
Thank you for playing the Pokémon TCG Online, and we look forward to seeing you in Pokémon TCG Live!
