Part 1: The Teal Mask

The first expansion, The Teal Mask, will be released by Fall 2023. In this expansion, you will join your classmates from the Paldea Academy on a school trip to Kitakami, a town at the base of a large mountain. It is a place of tranquil natural expanses, featuring rice paddies and apple orchards.

New Pokémon

The Loyal Three

Your trip coincide with the festival held every year in the city and you'll see a lot of street vendors and stall. You'll discover three new Pokémon: Okidogi, Fenzadipiti and Munkidori. They are beloved by the people of the village as heroes that protected the land of Kitakami in the past, and stone statues were made in their likeness to express the people’s gratitude toward these three Pokémon.

Toxic Chain Ability

Pokémon Scarlet and Pokémon Violet’s DLC introduces a new Ability called Toxic Chain for Okidogi, Munkidori, and Fezandipiti. These three Pokémon can inflict severe poisoning on their opponents with their moves, thanks to the power of their toxic chain.

Ogerpon

There will be also a new legendary Pokémon, Ogerpon, which dons a fearsome mask.

The Legendary Pokémon Ogerpon has been seen in its Terastallized form, but it does not look like most other Tera Pokémon. The power that this Pokémon has is still a mystery.

Dipplin

Dipplin is a new Evolution of Applin that is different from Flapple and Appletun. It seems to have two separate creatures inside its apple, one with a head and one with a tail. They work together to help each other.

Dipplin makes syrup inside its body and covers its apple with it. The syrup smells so good that it confuses enemies.

Dipplin can learn a move called Syrup Bomb, which is a Grass-type move that explodes syrup on the target. The syrup makes the target slower every turn for three turns.

Dipplin has a new Ability called Supersweet Syrup that activates when it enters the battle. The syrup’s smell spreads on the field and makes it harder for the other Pokémon to dodge attacks.

Poltchageist

It may resemble Sinistea at a glance, but Poltchageist is actually an entirely different species of Pokémon.

Poltchageist feeds on the life-force of its victims. It sprinkles some of its powdery substance on them or on their food, and then drains their energy and uses it for itself.

Poltchageist likes to live in old houses and may fix things that are broken there. It stays in cool, dark places during the day, but at night it wanders around the town and its surroundings.

Poltchageist has a new Ability called Hospitality, which is exclusive to Pokémon Scarlet and Pokémon Violet. This Ability allows Poltchageist to heal its ally a little bit when it enters a battle. It shows its kindness and generosity to its partner.

New Characters

The Nineteenth Tera Type

Terastal is a special power that makes Pokémon shine like jewels. It was first seen in Pokémon Scarlet and Pokémon Violet, and it affects battles a lot. You can change your Pokémon’s type to its Tera Type when you Terastallize it, which can make its moves stronger or change what it is weak to. Terastallizing your Pokémon can help you plan your strategy better.

In The Hidden Treasure of Area Zero a new Tera Type has been discovered, a nineteenth Tera Type, but much is yet unown.

Mossui Town

In the first part of the adventure, The Teal Mask, you will explore Mossui Town in Kitakami, your home base for the school trip.

The town center has a community hall where people gather and socialize. You can also find a store with toys and magazines nearby. Outside the town, you can admire the scenic fields and rice paddies.

A park called Loyalty Plaza is not far from the town. It has statues of the Loyal Three: Okidogi, Munkidori, and Fezandipiti. The villagers love these three Pokémon.

Kitakami Hall is east of the village. This is where the Festival of Masks happens. It is an ancient tradition with many stalls selling treats like candy apples and yakisoba. Everyone can have fun at this festival!

Explore Kitakami

You will join a school trip to Kitakami; You will take part in an orienteering activity, where you and your classmates will explore the land and find signboards that tell stories from one of the oldest folktales of Kitakami.

As you discover more about the past of this land, you might also reveal some of its secrets.

Photograph Pokémon in the Timeless Wood

You will meet Perrin, a young woman who came to Kitakami to see and take pictures of a certain Pokémon.

You and Perrin will go into the Timeless Woods, a place where not many people from Kitakami visit. There, you will have the chance to take photos of the Pokémon in the area and look for the mysterious Pokémon together!

Ogre Oustin'

Ogre Oustin’ is an old tradition in Kitakami that you can take part in.

You have to ride your Pokémon, pop Ogre Balloons to get Berries, and bring those Berries to the Berry Tables. You can get mochi as a reward, which can help you improve or reset your Pokémon’s stats.

You can play Ogre Oustin’ with up to three other players online or locally. You can work together to take on harder levels—for example, some of you can pop balloons that are far away, while others can protect the Berries you have collected from greedy Pokémon.

New features

You can get the Roto-Stick during your adventure. It helps you take wider-angle photos, which are perfect for capturing moments with your friends or Pokémon!

You can also ask the Pokémon walking with you to stay still. This can help you find the best angle for your photos.

You can share your photos with your group members when you play in Union Circle sessions. This is a great way to keep lots of precious memories with your friends!

Returning Pokémon in DLC

In the DLCs you wil be able to encounter over 230 familiar Pokémon that had not appeared in Pokémon Scarlet and Violet.
